canli-mcp / Install

Add canli-mcp to your AI client

Finance tools for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, ChatGPT and any other MCP client. Free and MIT-licensed, with no account and no API key. The local server needs Node.js 20.10 or later.

Local or hosted

The local server runs on your machine and has every tool. Your files, returns and prices stay there. The hosted server needs no install and runs the public-data and computing tools; it has no prices, file arguments or paper trading, and takes a limited number of requests a minute. The privacy policy says what each one sends and keeps.

Claude (web, desktop and mobile)

In Claude, open the connector settings and add a custom connector with this URL. Nothing to install. Prices and files need the local server.

Claude Code

As a plugin, with two skills, or as a server alone:

/plugin install canli-mcp --marketplace arhancanli/canli-mcp
claude mcp add canli -- npx -y canli-mcp

Claude Desktop, with the local server

Add this to claude_desktop_config.json (Settings, Developer, Edit Config), then restart Claude.

{

        "canli-mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Cursor

Use the Add to Cursor button at the top of this page, or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "canli": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "canli-mcp"

ChatGPT

In ChatGPT's settings, turn on developer mode for apps and add a custom app with this URL, where your plan allows it. Prices and files need the local server.

Codex

As a plugin, or as a server alone:

codex plugin marketplace add arhancanli/canli-mcp
codex mcp add canli -- npx -y canli-mcp

Gemini CLI

As an extension, or as a server alone:

gemini extensions install https://github.com/arhancanli/canli-mcp
gemini mcp add canli npx -y canli-mcp

Windsurf

Add this to ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "canli": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "canli-mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Cline

In Cline's MCP Servers panel, choose Configure and add this to cline_mcp_settings.json.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "canli": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "canli-mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Zed

Add this to your settings.json.

{
  "context_servers": {
    "canli": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "canli-mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Any other MCP client

Most take this form. A client that takes only a URL can use the hosted server.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "canli": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "canli-mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Then ask it something

Try "What did Apple report for revenue over the last five years, as first reported?" or "Show me the Treasury yield curve against a year ago." See the questions it answers, every tool and how it works.

We ran the commands for Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI on 2026-10-30. The other clients' steps follow their own documentation, which can change.
